Rwandan music star Bruce Melodie has renewed his claim to the top spot in Rwanda’s music industry after receiving an enthusiastic reception from fans during his ongoing Summer Country Tour.

The singer, whose real name is Itahiwacu Bruce, made the statement after taking the stage in Nyagatare on June 20, 2026. The concert was part of a nationwide tour that brought together some of Rwanda’s biggest music names, including The Ben, Kitoko Bibarwa and Bwiza.

According to reports from Radio Salus, Bruce Melodie received a particularly strong response from the Nyagatare audience. Following his performance, the singer took to Instagram to thank fans for the support and used the occasion to reaffirm his belief that he remains Rwanda's leading music artist.

“I am still number one in Rwandan music,” was the message behind his post to fans.

The statement came after an earlier performance in Musanze, where fellow Rwandan star The Ben was reported to have attracted significant attention from the audience. Bruce Melodie appeared determined to respond strongly during the Nyagatare leg of the tour, turning the friendly rivalry between the two artists into another talking point for music fans.

A tour bringing Rwanda's biggest names together

The Summer Country Tour was designed to take major Rwandan artists to different parts of the country, giving fans outside Kigali an opportunity to experience large-scale performances.

After the Nyagatare show, the tour was scheduled to continue to Nyamata in Bugesera on June 27, before eventually concluding in Rubavu.

For Bruce Melodie, the tour represents more than a series of concerts. It is also another opportunity to demonstrate his growing influence within Rwanda's entertainment industry.

From local stages to regional recognition

Bruce Melodie has built his career over more than a decade. He began singing at a young age and later established himself as one of Rwanda's most recognizable contemporary artists.

His breakthrough came through songs such as “Tubivemo”, while his participation in the Primus Guma Guma Super Star competition helped increase his national profile. He eventually won Primus Guma Guma Super Star Season 8.

Over the years, Bruce Melodie has also worked with artists from across the region and internationally. His collaborations have included artists such as Shaggy, Sheebah Karungi, Khaligraph Jones, Fik Fameica and Harmonize, helping him expand his audience beyond Rwanda.

His continued popularity has made competition at the top of Rwanda's music industry increasingly interesting, particularly as established artists such as The Ben continue to command large audiences.
